How to Disable User Registration in Joomla 3.10
Depending on the version of Joomla! that your website uses. the default settings might allow users to register and create new accounts within your website. This can be a problem especially if you do not have reCaptcha activated. Spambots will take advantage of this opportunity and fill in the user registration form which can result in hundreds or thousands of automated emails being sent from your server to these fake emails. If your website sends too many emails in a short space of time, your web host might turn off your email sending capabilities to protect themselves and other users.
If your website does not need to have registered users, it might be best to disable user registration form.
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the steps for disabling user registration in Joomla 3.10. To prevent users from signing up in Joomla 3.0
- Log into your Joomla 3.10 admin dashboard
- In the top menu, click Users and then click Manage
- In the tabs toward the top of the page, click the Options tab below the Joomla! logo
- Under User Options, set "Allow User Registration" to No and then click the Save button
After disabling the registration option, you will see that the link in your login form to create an account will no longer be there, as users can no longer create an account on their own.
